The kids here in Gilbert, Arizona are either back in school, or gearing up to start. That means you’re back to showers every day…no, the pool doesn’t count as a bath when summer is over…and teeth getting brushed, hair getting slick and everything else that happens in your bathroom when they get back on school schedule.

Right now is the best time to get your plumbing systems checked for clogged, cracks, failure and leaks. When school really gets going, the last thing you want to deal with is a broken plumbing pipe or loss of hot water.

Here are some tips to get your plumbing through the start of school:

Faucets and Drains: Leaks are most often to occur where plumbing pipes meet, at angles and at connections to faucets. Be sure to check beneath the bathroom sinks for any signs of drips or leakage. Buildup of any kind below the bathroom sink could be a sign of a plumbing leak.

Showers and Tubs: Since the kids will be using these more during school season, you’ll want to make sure there aren’t any hidden leaks that might be ruining your bathroom walls. Feel for any soft spots in the wall around your shower and tub. Check to make sure all plumbing caulking is not leaking, and that all screws are tight around seals.

Toilet: Check around the seal to your toilet. If there is any discoloration on the caulking, there could be a leak. If you press against the toilet base, gently, and it moves, you probably have a plumbing leak.

Always keep an eye around your home for water leaks or water damage signs. Have a wonderful school year, and don’t forget to call C. Slany Plumbing for all of your Gilbert, Arizona plumbing needs!
